The Wall Street Journal, citing US officials, reported on Friday that Trump had told aides he expects to resume bombing Iran after the November midterm elections. Privately, they said, he remains sceptical Iran would meet his demands on the nuclear programme. Trump’s figure of 29 ships coming out of the strait in one night is the largest US claim of traffic to date, and is well above the four commodity vessels a day independent trackers recorded earlier this month. Tehran: "Will Not Back Down"
Foreign Minister Araghchi answered on Telegram that Iran will not back down on its conditions and is waiting for the definitive opinions to be conveyed by the mediators before deciding — treating the President’s remark as not yet the official American answer. In a CBS interview airing Sunday, President Pezeshkian said that despite an atmosphere of distrust Iran would allow UN nuclear inspectors in as part of a potential long-term ceasefire, and Iran International reported him ready to negotiate limits on the programme. That is the first public Iranian movement on the nuclear file since the war began, and it arrived the day the plan built around deferring that file was rejected.

Saudi Arabia called on UN members to join efforts to defend freedom of navigation in the region’s waterways, describing the situation as a threat to global energy security — the kingdom’s first multilateral appeal after bilateral requests to Washington, Ankara, Islamabad and Cairo. The US ambassador said Trump directly warned Chinese President Xi Jinping against assisting Iran during their talks in Washington.
