Terms of Service
The conditions under which you may use IranWarLive and its associated data products. By accessing the platform you agree to these terms.
Critical Safety Notice
IranWarLive is an automated OSINT aggregation demonstration. Data is extracted by an AI system from publicly available news feeds. Due to the inherent uncertainty of active conflict reporting — commonly called the "fog of war" — events may be duplicated, geographically imprecise, or inaccurate. Under no circumstances should IranWarLive data be used to make life-safety decisions. This platform is for informational and research purposes only.
Nature of the Service
IranWarLive is a technical demonstration of automated open-source intelligence aggregation. It is not a news organisation, a verified intelligence service, or a provider of real-time emergency information. The platform aggregates publicly available information from RSS feeds and processes it using AI to produce a visual conflict map.
The service is provided free of charge, on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. No warranty is made regarding the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or reliability of any information displayed. The operator of IranWarLive reserves the right to modify, suspend, or terminate the service at any time without notice.
Acceptable Use
You may use IranWarLive for personal research, journalism, academic study, and general informational purposes. The following uses are explicitly prohibited:
- Using IranWarLive data to make decisions that affect personal safety, evacuation, or emergency response without independent verification from official sources
- Republishing IranWarLive content as independently verified intelligence without clearly attributing it as automated OSINT aggregation
- Scraping the platform in a manner that degrades service for other users or exceeds reasonable request rates
- Using the platform to harass, defame, or target individuals based on their location or affiliation with any group depicted in the data
- Misrepresenting IranWarLive as an official government, military, or intelligence source
- Using the platform in violation of any applicable law in your jurisdiction
Data Accuracy & AI Limitations
All event data on IranWarLive is extracted by Google Gemini 2.5 Flash, a large language model, from news article headlines and snippets. This process has inherent limitations:
- Hallucination risk: Despite a system temperature of 0.1 and strict JSON output formatting, AI models can occasionally generate plausible-sounding but incorrect information. We mitigate this with geographic validation (theater bounding box) and deduplication, but errors cannot be fully eliminated.
- Fog of war: Conflict reporting is inherently uncertain. Initial reports of casualty figures, event locations, and perpetrators frequently change as more information becomes available. IranWarLive reflects the state of reporting at the time of each pipeline run, not a verified historical record.
- Source bias: The pipeline ingests from Western-aligned wire services by default. Perspectives from Iranian state media, regional sources, and non-English outlets are underrepresented. Confidence classifications attempt to reflect this but cannot fully correct for it.
- Geographic precision: Coordinates are AI-assigned based on city-level references in news text. They should be treated as approximate indicators, not precise impact points.
Intellectual Property
The IranWarLive platform code, visual design, and architectural documentation are the intellectual property of IranWarLive and Tileterra Systems. All rights reserved.
The event data displayed on the map is derived from publicly available news sources and is not the original intellectual property of IranWarLive. Source attribution is preserved on every event — clicking "Verify Source" opens the original article. No copyright is claimed over the underlying news content.
The machine-readable data feeds (/feed.json, Google Sheets CSV) are provided for research and journalistic use. You may reference and cite this data with attribution to IranWarLive and a link to iranwarlive.com. Bulk redistribution of the feed data without attribution is prohibited.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, IranWarLive and its operators expressly disclaim all liability for:
- Any decision made based on information displayed on the platform
- Any inaccuracy, error, omission, or delay in the data
- Any harm, loss, injury, or damage — direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential — arising from use of or reliance on the platform
- Any interruption, suspension, or termination of the service
- Any third-party content accessed via links or source URLs displayed on the platform
This limitation of liability applies whether the claim arises in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or any other legal theory, and even if IranWarLive has been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Modifications & Termination
IranWarLive reserves the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes become effective upon publication on this page, reflected in the "Last updated" date. Continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
IranWarLive may suspend or terminate access to the platform for any reason, including but not limited to: violation of these terms, technical failure, operational decision, or the cessation of the conflict the platform tracks. No refund or compensation is owed in the event of termination, as the service is provided free of charge.
Governing Law
These Terms of Service shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from use of IranWarLive will be resolved through good-faith negotiation where possible. For enquiries regarding these terms, contact: aggeeinn@gmail.com
