Major-General Turki al-Maliki, spokesman for the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen, said Houthi attacks on civilian and economic sites in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jizan and Najran had resulted in "the injury of 73 civilians, including women and children". The Saudi energy ministry said several energy sector facilities and installations in the kingdom’s south were hit early on Tuesday, sparking fires at multiple locations and forcing a temporary halt to some operations. The Houthi military spokesman announced a broad offensive against Saudi Arabia, naming Aramco facilities at Abha, Najran and Jizan and an air base at Khamis Mushait as targets and saying the group had fired "dozens of ballistic missiles and drones". The Financial Times reported Aramco’s Jazan facilities were struck in separate attacks with damage still being assessed. Riyadh said it would take all necessary measures to defend its sovereignty; the coalition described the assault as "a dangerous escalation".

The geography is the point. Since the Strait of Hormuz was effectively shut, Riyadh has rerouted most of its crude through the Red Sea port of Yanbu — the workaround this archive has tracked since the Jazan strikes of Day 148. Both of the region’s chokepoints and now the workaround between them are under fire from the same alignment.
