On Fox News he said he was in deciding mode and determining "whether or not to blow up their nation" depending on how Iran behaves, having warned Tehran that it had better behave. Two days earlier he told Axios he was poised to make a big decision on whether to launch a major assault to annihilate the Iranian regime, adding that anything could happen. His trip to New York for the General Assembly begins this week, with a meeting with Gulf leaders also planned. The Washington sequence now reads: not ready on Day 202, conditions received on Day 204, deciding on Day 205. Tehran: The Strait Stays Closed Until the Terms Are Met
Ali Akbar Rezaei restated the three conditions to Al Jazeera — an end to the war on all fronts, the release of Iran’s frozen funds, and an end to the naval blockade — and tied them explicitly to the waterway: the Strait of Hormuz remains closed until they are met. He described no avenue for a return to talks outside them. Foreign Minister Araghchi will stop in Qatar, the channel through which the conditions travelled, before flying to New York. Iran has thus made Hormuz the collateral for its terms in so many words, and made the mediator the last stop before the venue.
The Houthi Carve-Out
Trump said he is in constant communication with the Houthis and that they have agreed not to attack the United States. The Houthis confirmed it from their side: senior politburo member Mohammed al-Bukhaiti said the group is not targeting the United States or any other nation in the strait "with the sole exception of the Saudi enemy," and that this remains the case. The structural fact deserves plain statement. Washington now has a working non-aggression understanding with the group that fired a ballistic missile at the capital of its principal Gulf ally the day before, a day after that ally asked it for help and was told the Americans were talking to the Houthis instead.
Embassies on Alert, and Ratcliffe in Cairo
US embassies across the Middle East issued security alerts for Americans, and the embassy in Riyadh now requires special authorisation for government employees travelling to Taif and Yanbu — the two Saudi cities the Houthis have most recently claimed. CIA Director John Ratcliffe met Egyptian President Sisi in Cairo as Washington warned of escalation, two days after Saudi Arabia’s crown prince sought Egypt’s backing. The Egypt track is the one both Riyadh and Washington are working; what it is meant to produce has not been said.

CENTCOM said its naval forces have redirected more than 100 vessels as the blockade of Iranian ports tightened. Oil eased as markets weighed Saudi supply recovery against strait risk, with the kingdom reported to be racing to repair the East-West pipeline shut on Day 197.
